***THIS REVIEW IS SPONSORED. Through BrandBacker we discovered Valentia Skin Care and were chosen to review this product. However, everything written is our own opinions, and if you are to use this product remember YMMV.
Valentia is a vegan, cruelty-free American brand that is dedicated to helping others feel more confident in their appearance without the use of harsh chemicals. We discovered the brand through BrandBacker and were interested in how we could incorporate their serum into our Asian Beauty routines. Neither of us had a serum in our current routines, so it was perfect timing for us to try one out. The Royal Rose Hydrating Serum claims to:
- Deeply moisturize skin
- Provide antioxidant protection
- Soothe and nourish dry skin
- Smooth skin tone and texture
- Boost skin radiance
Both of us are currently recovering from an acne breakout and are suffering from some dry patches as a result. This gave us the perfect opportunity to put these claims to the test. This review is a first impression since we have only been using the product for about a week.

Here are the magical ingredients:
Rosa Damascena-is a natural oil that has been proven to lower blood pressure and stress levels with its scent, while also nourishing and moisturizing the skin.
Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)-is an anti-oxidant that helps with color pigmentation, sun damage, and even acne spots. It helps your skin hold its water content while also helping with wrinkles and breakouts.
Evening Primrose Oil- is an emoliant that keeps skin moisturized while also being an anti-inflammatory.
Lavender-is a plant extract that helps the skin heal and treats pimples.
Here are the cursed ingredients:
Vitamin E- is the queen of antioxidants and can be helpful in getting rid of acne scars. The reason we have it as cursed, however, is because CosDNA puts it as an acne and irritant trigger of two. While this is very low on the scale, and neither of us have ever had an issue with it, we thought it would be important to note.
Phenoxyethanol-is a preservative that is commonly used in cosmetic products, and can be naturally found in green tea. CosDNA rates it as “yellow” on the safety scale, but the only problem seems to come from when you’re eating large quantities of it. Moral of the story? Don’t eat your skincare.

What Valentia says to do:
- Apply 1-2 pumps evenly to face and neck each evening after cleansing skin thoroughly.
- After absorption, follow with the moisturize and eye product of choice.
What we do:
- We used this serum more as if it were an emulsion in the morning because of its creamy consistency, as opposed to the clear liquid consistency most Asian serums have. This is something to consider when finding where it fits into your routine. We found it hydrating enough as an emulsion during the day because we both have oily/combo skin types, but use it as a serum at night before our moisturizers and spot treatments. People with dry skin may enjoy it as a serum for both their AM and PM routines.
- After double cleansing, toning, actives, and essence we applied 1-2 pumps to our faces and necks.
- We then gave it a couple of minutes to absorb before putting on the next steps of our routines, which included cream and acne spot treatments.
How it worked for us:
After testing the Royal Rose Hydrating Serum for about a week, we are seeing great results! The main result we are seeing is how well it moisturizes our skin without causing any breakouts or irritated spots. This is a huge plus for us since as stated before, we were both just getting over pretty severe breakouts and had some dry patches, as well as inflamed spots that needed soothing when we received this product. The serum has really helped our skin to bounce back and helped to heal any of our trouble spots. However, we have yet to see what long term effects the serum really has on our skin. So, we can not quite tell if the serum is boosting our skin’s radiance or smoothing its texture as it claims it will, but we are hopeful.
We recommend this product for all skin types since it is specifically made for those with sensitive skin, and we have yet to have any trouble with it as we both have oily and combination skin types. It doesn’t leave a sticky or oily residue which is a huge plus for more troubled skin types. It is safe to say that pretty much anyone can try this product as long as they are not allergic to any of the ingredients. In addition, we really appreciate that this product is vegan and cruelty-free, because we prefer to use more natural products that don’t harm other beings, and it can be really hard to find quality products that do what they claim and have those attributes.
-Highly moisturizing without causing breakouts
-Helps calm inflammation
-Does not leave a sticky or oily residue after absorption
-Comes with pump packaging, which is very sanitary
-Has a pleasant rose scent
-Comes in a glass bottle, which is only a con because it might break if dropped (however may be done to be more eco-friendly)
-Has a rose scent which may irritate those who are more sensitive to smells
-Long term results are unknown
-May be a bit pricey for those on a budget
1-Bad, had a reaction, would not buy again
2-Did not work
3-Worked, but nothing special
4-Great product, but has the potential to be replaced
5-Holy Grail, it’s the cat’s meow!
It’s definitely working to improve our dry patches and any inflammation we may have, but we have yet to determine if it is a product will we keep in our routines long term.
