A few months back the Berrisom Lip Tint Pack made waves in social media for its exciting, if not a bit weird, peel-off spin on lip tinting.(Marie ClaireToday Show, Cosmopolitan)This tint claims to be smudge, kiss, drink, food, and water proof all while being able to last for up to 12 hours. Not able to contain my curiosity, I ended up picking up the colors “Virgin Red” and “Vivid Scarlet” to try it out for myself.

Directions:

  1. Apply a “liberal” amount of tint to clean lips.
  2. Let dry for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Gently peel lip tint pack off.
  4. (Optional) Apply lip balm or gloss

Since I had two different shades I decided to try two different ways of application to see how they would last throughout a long day.

Virgin Red Lip Stain

Application:

  1. Applied thin layer onto clean lips
  2. Let dry for 15-20 minutes (I put it on before I started the rest of my makeup and waited to peel it off until we were about to leave the house).
  3. Gently peeled pack off.
  4. Applied rose lip balm.

First applied at 9AM. The tint looks a lot darker than I expected it to, the color was a rich, almost like a cherry or deep red. I found that it didn’t stay dark, the color lightening as it “set”.

Around six hours after first application. I had spent the whole morning and afternoon outside, getting brunch, and enjoying the day without having to worry about reapplication or smudging. The only problem I had was the bits of dark spots. It wasn’t from fading and it wasn’t dry skin, but rather left over residue from the original peel. I didn’t have the same problem with my second test, and believe it was a result of leaving the tint on for too long before peeling. 12988094_10209198177533523_1352560862_n

The last picture was taken at around 1AM, marking around 16 hours of wear.  After a full day out hiking, visiting cafes, going out to dinner, and drinking at the bar, my lips are still red but look more like I need to reapply lipstick rather than the tinted look I was aiming for. Though the picture is very dark, you can make out on the bottom outline of my lip where there are darker patches like in the second picture, they never went away.

Vivid Scarlet Lip Stain

Application:

  1. Applied thick layer onto clean lips
  2. Let dry for 10 minutes
  3. Gently peeled pack off.

I first applied this lip stain at 5PM after work. Immediately afterwards I had dinner, and a cup of coffee.

4 hours after application, just like the previous tint, the color seemed to settle into it true tone after setting on the lips. The color is still rich, and it didn’t transfer onto my coffee cup.

Since the application was so late in the day, and my activity was far less than that when I tried the first stain, I decided to see what it would be like sleeping with the lip stain on. The picture above is at 7AM, which is 14 hours after the original application. I was surprised to find that the color was still there, though it was now dull and suffering the same problem as the Virgin Red where the edges of my lips have dry patches of deeper color. I resolved this by doing a quick scrub of my lips with water and application of lip balm.

How it Worked for Me:

The Berrisom lip tint is a fun spin on tinting lips with a variety of colors, and in both tests of the products held up to their claims. Wearing both tints for over 12 hours you can still see that my lips are blushed with the colors I had put on earlier in the day, the only set back being that the shade changed as the day went on. I found that the best application for my lips was with the second technique I tried with the Vivid Scarlet stain. The coloring was even on top and bottom, and peeling it off was a lot easier when I didn’t go over the 10 minute mark. That being said, there are a few issues I have with the product, though I can’t determine if it’s product error or human.

Pros:

  • Long Lasting
  • Didn’t Smudge
  • Did not leave kiss marks on cups or other surfaces.
  • Could eat and drink without reapplying
  • No Smell

Cons:

  • Applying can be tricky, at least the first time.
  • Messy
  • After prolonged wear, coloring begins to look a bit patchy, especially around the line of the lips or pronounce dry spots on your lips.

Final Rating:

Rating Scale

1-Bad, had a reaction, would not buy again

2-Did not work

3-Worked, but nothing special

4-Great product, but has the potential to be replaced

5-Holy Grail, it’s the cat’s meow!

Noona 3.5

This lip tint is fun, comes in a variety of colors, and has the long lasting anti-smudge effect that it promises.  While I love the colors, and how it looks for the first 8 hours, I wouldn’t be hard pressed to switch it out if a new product came along.

Where you can Purchase it:

Memebox for $9.00

Wishtrend  for $7.99 (all 9 shades)

Amazon for $6.44 (without Prime)

  1. I am so interested in trying these out, but everytime I put a order I just feel, nooo maybe not, it is easier just applying a normal tint. thank you for your view on it:-)

    1. I somewhat feel the same. The only thing I like about this, is that with other tints, they seem to be very watery and can be just as messy. At least with this you can put it on, let it set, and finish your makeup. The other thing I’ll say is that these colors are a lot better than some of the other tints I have seen. I may buy more just because I enjoy the colors so much.
